Manual Case Packing, Aggregation & Labeling System Model 1922

The Model 1922 is LSI’s print & apply solution, for packing, aggregation and labeling of pharmaceutical cases.

Operation:
In a typical operation, case label data is transmitted from the MES host to a print & apply labeler. A green light indicates that the data has been received and the 1922 is ready. An operator erects a case and positions it in the fixture on the tabletop, leaving the top flaps open. When a case is detected in the fixture, the print & apply labeling head tamps a serialized label on the side panel of the case and wipes it across the leading panel. An inspection camera reads the case label that was just applied. If the label passes inspection, a green light illuminates. If the label is missing or fails inspection, a red light illuminates, directing the operator to the MES HMI for further processing. Unit cartons or bundles of unit cartons are placed into the case with the bundle labels facing up. When a layer is complete, the operator presses a button to trigger a camera to scan the labels for all bundles on that layer. If all labels are readable and all bundle codes are valid, a green light signals the operator to pack the next layer. If any of the codes are unreadable or invalid, a red light directs the operator to the MES HMI, where the problem bundle is highlighted. The rejected bundle is then removed for rework.

When the last layer in the case is successfully scanned, the green light begins to flash, directing the operator to remove the case from the fixture and seal the case. Optional versions of the Model 1922 utilize a hand scanner for aggregation scanning of units/bundles to the case.
