Model 1420 is a case packing labeling system that incorporates a print-apply labeling unit, inspection station and reject system.
Cases are aggregated, packed and sealed in an upstream case packer. Each case enters the system and is stopped at the labeling station by a pin stop, where a print & apply labeling head prints the case label (using serialization data from the MES system) and applies the label to the side and leading edge of the case. After the label is applied, the pin stop retracts, releasing the case. A pin stop and clamp stop work together as an escapement to release one case at a time. An inspection camera reads the case label that was just applied. If the label passes inspection, the case proceeds to the next process, usually palletizing. If the label is missing or fails inspection, the case is rejected. Rejected cases are collected on a reject collection conveyor. Photoeyes confirm that failed cases are rejected and that good cases are not.
