Four-Color Print & Apply Labeling for Collateral Processing

ID Technology has designed a print and apply labeling system that prints and applies a four-color label to collateral materials such as file folders.

Documents within the file are barcoded, identifying the contents. An open folder is then placed in a product fixture with the barcode visible to be scanned.

A barcode scanner reports the information to a host computer, which then sends unique label format print data to each printer.

As the folder travels down the conveyor belt, a four-color label and a barcode are printed using the identifying information contained in the barcode.

The label is then applied and folded to adhere to both sides of the folder tab. This four-color print and apply labeling system has two print and apply labeling stations for increased labeling speed. Each station prints and applies a label to alternating folders, allowing time for the second printer to print the next label.

A verifier at the end of the line verifies that the barcode on both the file label and the file contents are present, readable and match. If the information does not match, the folder is rejected and drops into a reject bin.

Finished labeled folders are dropped into a plastic collection tote bin at the end of the conveyor system. Other options are available that include totalizing counters and a sortation station.
